How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter the stake and odds for Bet 1 (say, Over 2.5 goals at 1.90)
  2. Enter the odds for Bet 2, the opposing side (say, Under 3.5 goals at 1.90)
  3. Read off the recommended stake for Bet 2 to level the outcomes
  4. Check your profit across each scenario: only Bet 1 wins, only Bet 2 wins, or both win (the middle)

Formula

Bet 2 Stake = (Bet 1 Stake × Bet 1 Odds) / Bet 2 Odds

Total Investment = Bet 1 Stake + Bet 2 Stake

Profit if Bet 1 Wins = (Bet 1 Stake × Bet 1 Odds) - Total Investment

Profit if Bet 2 Wins = (Bet 2 Stake × Bet 2 Odds) - Total Investment

Profit if Both Win = (Bet 1 Stake × Bet 1 Odds) + (Bet 2 Stake × Bet 2 Odds) - Total Investment

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly is a middle bet?

It’s two opposing bets on the same event with a band of outcomes where both cash. Picture Over 2.5 goals at one bookmaker and Under 3.5 goals at another — score exactly 3 goals and both bets win.

How does the middle calculator do its job?

It works out the ideal stake for the second bet so you break even (or take a tiny hit) if only one side wins, while setting up a big payday if the middle lands and both bets win at once.

Middling vs hedging — same thing?

Close cousins, not twins. Hedging locks in a profit whatever happens. Middling aims for break-even or a small loss on most results, with a shot at a big profit if the outcome falls in the ‘middle’ band where both bets win.

Which markets are made for middles?

Spread/handicap markets and totals (over/under) are the usual hunting grounds. Chase line moves that let you grab opposing sides of a game at overlapping numbers — think Over 2.5 and Under 3.5, or Team -3 and Team +4.
